Summary

A joint response from Citizens Advice Scotland and Citizens Advice England & Wales to the BIS consultation on implementing a pilot programme to provide civil sanction powers for consumer law enforcement.

We strongly agree that much more needs to be done to ensure that consumers are compensated when they suffer a breach of consumer protection legislation, and broadly support the proposals for a pilot scheme introducing civil sanctions.  However, to offer consumers a comprehensive means of redress, our response proposes that the pilot should widen its scope to include additional pieces of legislation.
