Social Policy

Scotland's CAB Service isn't just the country's leading independent advice service - it's also a leading advocate for social change.

We collect evidence from around the country and use it to demonstrate that change is required. We think this is so important that it's one of our twin aims.

And change is possible. Recently the use of CAB evidence has contributed to:

• The 2010 report Unfit for Purpose which resulted in a joint BBC Scotland TV documentary
• Our response to the Work Capability Assessment Consultation
• Our reponse to the National Minimum Wage Consultation
• Our response to the E Consumer Protection Consultation
• The content of the Draft Bill for The Enforcement of Local Tax Arrears (Scotland)
• The 2009 Drowning in Debt report and seven detailed briefing sheets: Coping with Debt, Lone Parents, Low Income clients, Older People and Debt, Disabled and Sick CAB clients, Creditor Behaviour and Young People and debt.
