Big Energy Week: Summary report
This summary report outlines the activities, events and results of the “Big Energy Week” campaign, co-ordinated by Citizens Advice Scotland in January 2012.
Big Energy Week was a product of the October 2011 energy summit at which Citizens Advice Scotland and Citizens Advice England and Wales joined energy suppliers, representatives from consumer groups and the Department of Energy and Climate Change to discuss what could be done to help consumers cope with rising fuel bills. The campaign aimed to encourage the public to save money by checking their energy tariffs and energy suppliers are the cheapest available. People were also encouraged to check their entitlement to grants and benefits to maximise their income and reduce the cost of energy in the home.
CAS and Scottish bureaux successfully publicised this campaign by working on local and national levels simultaneously and engaging in partnership work wherever relevant. What can be learned from this campaign and what the campaign achieved are summarised in this report.
